Fundamentals for producing improvement, not just change.

1) Develop an understanding of the four areas of the system of profound knowledge:

  • appreciation for a system

  • understanding variation

  • theory of knowledge

  • psychology

2) Ask and answer the Three Basic Questions:

  • What are we trying to accomplish?

  • How will we know that a change is an improvement?

  • What moves can we make to produce improvement?.

3) Continually learn and improve with PDSA cycles (Plan-Do-Study-Act).

4) Reduce variation.

5) Work together cooperatively.

6) Manage the interactions, not individuals.

7) Drive out fear and

8) Lead with knowledge, tact, personality and persuasive power.
